Ajit Deswandikar (born 1973) is an Indian artist from Thane, Maharashtra. He completed his MFA from J J School of Arts, Mumbai and since 1997 has exhibited in India, Paris, London and Singapore.
Ajit’s Paintings are a remarkable chronicle of urban contradictions and stark reality. Some scenes are viewed from unique and unusual angles, incorporating a lyrical quality in the composition. Some weave a satire with cultural icons and new age imagery, expressive of the artist’s state of mind and endeavor to capture the essence of urban contradictions. His paintings are a kind of ‘art’ which as Picasso has stated, ‘washes from the soul the dust of everyday life.
