Arpan Bhowmik graduated from the Govt. College of Art & Craft, University of Calcutta in 2001.
He was awarded Gopal Ghosh Scholarship in Annual Exhibition of Govt. College of Art & Craft, Calcutta, for best watercolour in 1997.
Atul Bose Award & Academy Award in All India Annual Exhibition of Academy of Fine Arts, Calcutta, for best watercolour in 1998.

Arpan is known for his expertise in both oils & watercolours in the figurative style of paintings.He's able to recreate cityscapes with a magical effect & lend them a unique character, using acrylic paint with the poise & freshness of watercolours. What is interesting is the black & white look of the old Kolkata city, with a pop of colour and a dollop of sunshine to brighten the scenario.
