International Print Exchange Programme (IPEP), India” is a unique non-profit barter-based activity through which printmakers collaborate with each other across the globe. Initiated by Mumbai based artist Rajesh Pullarwar in 2013, IPEP India has spawned a community of over 6000 artists, including 375 participants from 49 countries contributing a fantastic run of 120+ exhibitions around the world. Beyond conventional exchanges, it encourages and supports artists to own, curate, exhibit, and promote prints and printmaking independently.
In 2023, IPEP India celebrated its 10-year milestone with landmark exhibitions at the Bihar Museum and Chandigarh Museum, featuring a decade’s worth of exchanged portfolios. Additionally, it hosted India’s first International Printmaking Symposium, fostering critical discussions on the relevance of printmaking in the current scenario.
IPEP India invited Saad Ghosn (USA/Lebanon) as an esteemed guest curator for its 2024 edition, “imPrinting Justice” and brought together artists who explore social justice and advocacy themes through printmaking. Enriched by thought-provoking writings from Amrit Karter (India) and Michel Cassir (France/Lebanon), the exhibition is a powerful platform for amplifying artistic voices that address pressing contemporary issues.
