The Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has in the cultural diplomacy, one of the main axes of international projection
of Peruvian foreign policy. This is executed through the promotion / diffusion abroad of the most outstanding / representative
cultural expressions of the regions of Peru. Work carried out by our diplomatic officials and cultural attachés in the network of
Embassies, Consulates and Permanent Representations to International Organizations, which the Peruvian Chancellery has
around the world.
In that path, the Decentralized Office in Puno of the Peruvian MFA, in compliance with the “Foreign Cultural Policy Plan”,
wishes to share with you this publication, entitled “Itinerant Pucará Bull, Ambassador of the Peruvian Highlands”, which seeks
two fundamental objectives: 1) to promote the “Pucará Bull” at a national and international level as an ancestral cultural
expression of the Puno Region, a product of the miscegenation between the Andean and Hispanic cultures, and a symbol of the
Andean identity of southern Peru, which represents protection, happiness and fertility; and, 2) provide artisans from Pucará
with the possibility of publicizing and commercializing their works of art, directly with potential interested parties, through a
physical and virtual catalog of the sample, which contain contact information of the associations and artisans authors of the
sculptures, helping to improve / boost their economies, as part of the actions to promote economic reactivation at the regional
level, during the Coronavirus Pandemic.
