Kerala Chumarchitram

‘Kerala Chumarchitram: The Mural Painting Tradition From Kerala’ opens at the Kamalnayan Bajaj Gallery, Mumbai, from 19th October to 24th October. The exhibition explores the mural painting tradition of Kerala, from its classical temple-inspired forms to contemporary interpretations. It brings together the traditional compositions drawn from the deities, Kathakali characters, and ornamental motifs, alongside contemporary pieces that reimagine the form in its style and essence. Among the highlights is an authentic traditional Kerala mural painted with natural colours on a cement sheet, which showcases the art in its true and raw form.
“Painting is how I explore my life, and in it, life becomes an expression. Expression is life, and life is expression. I was never meant to work for someone else or live by the clock of a standard nine to five. My emotions find their voice in colour, and that is where I am most myself. Live your life the way you like it and do what you love.”
