About the Show: The two subjects displayed at the show are bulls and expressions. The exhibition is titled ‘evoque’. The word evoke means ‘to bring forth’ or ‘imaginative recreation’. The artists have tried to do exactly that with their respective subjects. The range of emotions a person goes through or the body language of an animal, the only way it can emote.
About the Artist
Anna Kurian: Anna Kurian took up painting after she quit professional life to be a full time mother to her two daughters. This is her first public showing of her paintings. She has worked extensively in oils, acrylics and charcoal. Her subject is the bull where she has tried to bring out the strength and agility of the animal on her canvases.
Sandipta Talukdar: Art in various forms has always been Sandipta’s companion for as long as she can remember. From doodling during lectures to trying out different types of stitches to craft. In the hustle and bustle of growing up, art took a back seat with an occasional dabble here and there. In her attempt to move away from the routine, she sought solace in art. For Sandipta it was more like ‘soul food’. It started with an art workshop in 2010 from where she moved onto learning wheel pottery and finally in 2012 under the tutelage of Mr.S.Vinitkumar, she started her journey with paints and canvases.
