Each one of us has been gifted with a mind’s eye. Some of us use it,
others choose not to, while some are blissfully ignorant of its existence.
Our mind’s eye allows us to see beyond the realm of nature and physics.
It gives us the freedom to look beyond the three dimensions.
Thus the visions of our mind’s eye are unfettered and liberated.
With this exhibition of watercolours titled ‘Behind the Seen,’
I explore architectural visions through my mind’s eye.
Each one of us will have different visions of the same object when seen
from our respective mind’s eyes. And what you see with your mind’s eye
need not be the same every time you see it. It is a reflection of our
conditioning, our memories, our desires, our experiences, our state of mind.
My mind’s eye, for example, tends to distort objects, it defines them loosely
and simply ignores large sections of what the physical eyes have in front of them. Quite often, my mind’s eye dominates what my real eyes see - the colours have mixed and merged, the shapes are indistinct and there are just blank spaces
playing the role of physical spaces.
An attempt to capture these metaphysical visions
from a moment in my time.
