Artist Statement

My paintings are by and large autographical, in a sense that i try to feel, observe and transform whatever enters my life or whatever i have consciously put myself into and let that experience naturally emerge in my painting.

I’m hugely fascinated by the bridging paradoxes that life offers - inner/outer, conscious/unconscious, crests/troughs, life lived in action/life lived in head etc.

In my paintings, I constantly seek to capture the beauty and soul in mundane objects and people/places. Watercolor the most human of all mediums allows me to express those visual impulses on paper.

Being keenly involved in Indian classical music, its training methods and its sensory effects has intensely affected my sensibilities as a painter. My paintings become a harmonious playing ground for the auditory and visual impulses.
