The regular meets the offbeat. The linear meets the lateral. The gross meets the subtle. Advertising meets art. In the great erstwhile drama of copy bromides, cut paste artists, rubber solution and Topaz blades, a dedicated bunch of employees of Lintas who carved their craft away as cut paste artists, visualizers, typographers and photo touch up artists, opened a little window somewhere- to keep the true artists-within-him alive through painting, drawing and photography.
This exhibition celebrates their priceless work, supported by the master-of-masters, the ‘Lord-of-ideas in that golden era of Indian advertising.
Through the years Off-Duty – Art exhibitions have been held at Jehangir and other galleries keeping their spirit alive for art sake. After all, as Picasso said, “The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls.”
In this year the participant artist are Kamlakar Barse, Sharad Pole, B V Patil, Madhu Gadkari, Vinayak Ponkshe, Vikram Gaikwad, Suhas Pole, Mohan Khare, Prashant Godbole & Leenata Shah
