If the Covid 19 pandemic had any upside, mental health issues that normally had a stigma attached to them have become common parlance. Issues such as depression, anxiety, paranoia, abnormal thoughts, bipolar disorder, autism, amongst the other more serious illnesses have gained gravitas, allowing those who struggled with them to speak out finally and seek help.
I WANT TOMORROW is an exhibition that brings to the fore issues concerning mental health through a discussion with art, so that individuals don’t have to struggle in silence anymore. Speaking up about these issues is the first step towards healing and wellbeing. In this exhibition, the artists unpack various trajectories, some personal and others institutional to highlight the significance of nurture and support so that the concerned person can get the help needed. The show advocates it’s okay not to be okay and having special needs as the new normal.
