Presence of Realism Inaugural Exhibition by Studio Astitva The very idea of existence is deeply ingrained in the fabric of art, particularly representational art. It reflects a profound connection to the world around us, capturing its essence with authenticity and truth. The name Astitva signifies the essence of presence, embodying the very idea of existence. Presence of Realism marks the beginning of an inspiring journey, celebrating the dedication of artists who are deeply committed to the practice of representational art through classical academic training. In this inaugural exhibition, we are proud to present works by eminent senior artists, including Padma Shree awardee Vasudev Kamath and the renowned Vijay Achrekar. Their masterful creations are showcased alongside the vibrant works of actively practising contemporary artists and educators. These artists, rooted in classical training, have shared their knowledge and expertise with countless students across India, shaping the next generation of artists. This exhibition is the result of a collaborative effort between Studio Astitva and Samsara Academy of Art, curated by Vaibhav Naik, Founder and Director of Studio Astitva. Ayuesh Agarwal, the Founder and Director of Samsara Academy of Art, has established the academy as a centre of excellence for classical academic training, inspired by the techniques of the Renaissance and addressing a critical gap in today’s art education system. The exhibition offers a rich diversity within representational art, encompassing figurative and conceptual painting, drawing, still life, and more. It features works from established senior artists as well as final-year students from the academy, offering a glimpse into how classical training shapes an artist's journey and artistic expression. As we grow and evolve, Studio Astitva aims to cultivate a thriving and supportive community for both seasoned and emerging representational artists. We are committed to guiding artists in thoughtfully executing and presenting their work, ensuring that their artistic maturity and dedication are reflected in the visual impact of their creations. Through this exhibition, we aim to inspire and spark meaningful conversations with the next generation of artists, encouraging them to uphold the integrity and presence of their work while fostering a deep respect for the art they create.
